We recently had the chance to test the Snoopreport service to see what it can do.

The Kinds of Data Collected by Snoopreport

Snoopreport generates reports for non-private Instagram accounts that include the following information.

  • Likes – displays the number of liked posts by an account on a weekly basis at a glance. The individual posts that received likes are also available for inspection.
  • New followings – includes a list of all the accounts that followed the Instagram user you’re tracking during a given week.
  • Unfollows – displays a list of users who unfollowed the account you’re tracking in a given week.
  • Like media tags – shows the most popular hashtags used by the account you’re tracking.
  • User interests – list featuring the account’s interests based on their activity.

Why Use Snoopreport

You may be wondering why you should use Snoopreport, since you can get this information yourself – if you have much time on your hands, that is. While it’s true that you can easily see when one of your followers has liked a post on Instagram (their account name will stand out when checking the likes count), given the sheer number of posts uploaded to Instagram every day, you won’t be able to find each one they’ve liked – even if you have similar tastes. Besides, it’s much harder to track accounts that you don’t follow.

At the same time, tracking what new accounts an Instagram user followed or how many followers they lost can be a nightmare, especially if it’s a popular account that you’re tracking, with thousands of followers and followings. This is why Snoopreport is a particularly useful tool: it does all this work for you, then neatly displays it in an easy-to-read tidy report.

Snoopreport does not rely on shady tactics to collect all this data, so if you were worried about using an unethical tool, don’t be. According to its developers, the tool collects only open, publicly available sources, which makes it 100% legal. Snoopreport combines public data and big data to predict user behavior to successfully track their activities on Instagram.

Using Snoopreport to Track Instagram User Activity

You can use Snoopreport in two ways. For free, you can access a few report examples that have already been set up by Snoopreport. Just access this page, and browse through the available options. Click on the “See reports” button to view the statistics.

Alternatively, if you’ve purchased a subscription, you can create a list of custom non-private accounts that you want to track. For this, you’ll need to sign up for a paid plan. Once you do, log in to your account, and access the “Dashboard” in the upper-right corner of the official Snoopreport website.

Clicking "Dashboard" button on Snoopreport page.

Use the “Add account” button to add the accounts that you want to track to the list. Once you do, you will need to wait up to seven days until the report will be generated.

Snoopreport does not offer information retroactively (unless you’re willing to pay extra). Snoopreport will start collecting information once you’ve added the account you want to track to the Dashboard.

Viewing Reports

Once an on-demand report has been made available, click the “View Report” button that appears under the account’s name.

At the top of the page, you can select the period for which you want to see the stats. Then, Snoopreport highlights some of the most important stats for the account that’s under surveillance, including:

  • Liked users: shows the number of posts liked by the account during a given week
  • Favorite user: displays the user who the account interacted with the most during the period
  • Liked content: shows the account’s most popular hashtags at a glance.

All this information is also broken down using a set of tiny icons. In the example below, the heart icon indicates the account has liked six posts, while the face icon under “Liked users” reveals that the user under surveillance has liked content from three accounts.

Further along, the “Likes” section displays the list of users with which the account interacted via likes. You can also click on the liked media thumbnails to be taken straight to the posts they’ve liked, which is super handy.

Additionally, the report contains the same “New followings” and “Unfollows” sections, as well as the most popular hashtag breakdown and user interest. What’s super convenient is that you can click on them via the Snoopreport interface and be instantly redirected to Instagram.

For added convenience, you can download the report in CVS format by pressing the “Download CVS” button at the bottom of the screen.

While the service is geared toward tracking other accounts, you can add your own (provided you’ve not set it to Private) to the Dashboard, and get access to the same statistics and data. If you’re worried about losing followers, for example, being able to easily track their numbers can prove indispensable.

Is the Information Accurate?

Snoopreport claims all reports are 100% accurate. Bear in mind that it’s not guaranteed that the tool will be able to track ALL likes and follows. According to the company, you’ll be able to see about 5 to 75 percent of actions performed by public Instagram accounts in the reports.

Plan Pricing

To track accounts on demand, you’ll need to sign up for a paid plan.

Snoopreport currently offers three options:

  • Personal – $4.99 per month, track up to two accounts
  • Small business – $11.99 per month, track up to 10 accounts
  • Professional – $49.99 per month, track up to 100 accounts

On top of that, if you want access to reports from the past, you’ll need to pay a little extra. One week’s worth of past data will add an extra $1.19 to your shopping cart.

Closing Thoughts

During our time using the service, Snoopreport proved easy to set up and provided valuable insights and analytics with minimal effort. While a bit pricey for personal use, the utility could prove indispensable for businesses and social media influencers by providing a better way to understand their audience, improve content strategies, and gauge the effectiveness of marketing efforts. For those looking to track only a couple of accounts, the fee is a lot more manageable. All of this is done ethically, as Snoopreport reporting relies on publicly available data, so anyone can use the tool in good conscience.
