This is a time of year when we always have our phones at the ready for photo opportunities: holiday decorating displays, parties, visits with Santa, school productions, etc. Wouldn’t it be great if you had a way to print these photos as well as a way to take them? The Liene Pearl K100 Portable Instant Photo Printer is here to help, as you’ll learn in this review.

Pearl K100 Photo Printer Features
Photo printers didn’t need to be this portable before, as not many people carried cameras around with them every day. But now we all have cameras on our phones that are in our pockets, bags, or purses, or even sitting next to us on a table, at any time during the day. Having a way to instantly print out the photos can be helpful.
The Liene Pearl K100 Portable Instant Photo Printer provides that help in a big way by producing small photos of your trips, get-togethers, parties, sports events, life events, etc. It’s small enough to tuck away in your bag, pocket, purse, etc., right next to your phone, to be there when you need it.
The Pearl K100 has the following features:
- Inkless printing: no more concerns of running out of ink in the middle of printing. The paper includes Zink Zero ink printing technology. The ink is embedded in the paper, yet it’s still smudge-proof and dry to the touch when printed.
- 2.3″ sticky-back paper: the photos are printed on a glossy paper that has a sticky back when peeled off, turning your photos into stickers but can also stay sealed and non-sticky.
- Printing via Bluetooth 5.0: print via a stable signal, without worrying about being connected to Wi-Fi.
- Compatibility: both Android and iOS devices are compatible.
- Portable and wireless: thirty photos can be printed on one charge.
- Edit photos in the app: use the Liene app to edit your photos with regard to cropping, frames, enhancements, etc.
Unboxing the Pearl K100
The small box for the Liene Pearl K100 Portable Instant Photo Printer doesn’t include much – but it doesn’t need to. Inside you’ll find:
- Pearl K100 Photo Printer
- USB-A to USB-C charging cable
- 5 sheets of Zink photo paper
- User manual
Amazingly, that’s all you need to churn out beautiful mini photos!
As soon as you unpack the printer, you’ll want to plug it in with the included charging cord and charge it up. It doesn’t take long, but you want to have it ready when you need it.
Adding Paper
I want to say using the Liene Pearl K100 Portable Instant Photo Printer is as easy as using any printer, but it’s not – it’s easier. It’s just a matter of opening it in the Liene app and making refinements if you need to, then printing. The hardest part is loading the paper, and even that’s not hard.
First, you need to load the special 2″ x 3″ Zink photo paper. You’ll need to do this every time you want to print photos, as the paper can dry out very easily. This is why the paper is packed in 5- to 10-piece packs. The printer ships with a 5-piece pack, so you’ll want to make sure you have five photos you want to print before loading it so that the paper doesn’t dry out before you have a chance to use it.
Hold the Pearl K100 in your hand and slide it open as you would on a battery compartment on another device.
Open the paper, being careful not to touch the printing surface. Do not discard the blue sheet of paper on the bottom that is labeled “Smart Sheet.” This needs to load into the printer. Just keep it at the bottom of the stack of photo paper, and insert the entire stack into the printer at once, being careful to slide it all the way back so that the printer recognizes it’s in there.
Close the printer, and you’re ready to print!
Using the Pearl K100
Download the Liene app, available for both iOS and Android, and register for an account. I already had an account, having previously reviewed another Liene printer.
Hit the plus sign (+) to add the Liene Pearl K100 Mini Photo Printer, then pair it through Bluetooth with your device.
This sends you to the Pearl K100’s home screen where it shows the printer status and lets you begin the printing process. Click “Classic Photo Print.”
After agreeing to allow the app to have access to your photos, choose a photo from your device’s library to print, which lands you on the Print Preview Screen. You can choose how many copies to print and enter the editing screen by tapping the pencil icon.
On the editing screen, you can choose bordered, borderless, “Polaroid,” or “No Crop,” which centers the image on the photo paper instead of cropping it to fit. You can also apply filters or enhancements, such as shadow, saturation, brightness, etc. Click the checkmark in the upper right when you are done.
Once you are returned to the Print Preview screen, click “Print” to initiate the process. If this is the first time you have printed with this pack of paper, it will spit out the blue Smart Sheet before it prints anything.
The Pearl K100 begins to print your photo. It slides out the end as it finishes printing, just as the blue Smart Sheet did.
To print out more photos, just return to the app, choose another photo, and repeat the process.
Print Quality
The print quality of the Pearl K100 is better than you’d expect from a mini instant photo printer. The photos with people and animals are as clear as you would ever want them. I couldn’t ask for anything more out of them.
This is actually my second mini photo printer. My first one did not take great pictures when the colors faded in and out, such as a sunset. So I sought out the same picture to print it again on the Pearl K100. I was thrilled to see that the K100 printed it better than the other printer. While it’s not perfect, it’s clearer than the other.
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a portable printer, the Liene Pearl K100 Mini Photo Printer is the one you’re looking for. It’s easy to use, takes up very little space, and takes great photos. Especially if you’re taking photos of family, friends, and pets, you’ll be pleased with it. If you take small photos of places you’re visiting, you’ll still be happy. If you’re looking for photos for the purpose of ogling the beauty of what you’re seeing, it may not be what you’re looking for.
Perhaps best yet, this photo printer is very inexpensive, at just $89.99. You can buy a pack of 50 sheets of paper for $23.99. Be sure to check out Liene’s other products as well.
