Our Rating

These days Bluetooth speakers come in all shapes and sizes. Most of these models offer decent sound and are portable enough to be taken anywhere. But what if you need something that can deliver a louder sound? The Tronsmart T7 Portable Bluetooth Speaker might be just what you’re looking for. Boasting rich sound, an IPX7 waterproof rating, and a super affordable price, the device can easily kickstart your next pool party or gathering. I recently was offered the chance to test this powerful speaker to see what it can do.

Introducing the Tronsmart T7 Bluetooth Speaker

Shaped like a tall cylinder, the Tronsmart T7 Portable Bluetooth Speaker might be a tad larger than the average speaker, yet it does not lose any points when it comes to portability. It’s lightweight and compact enough to be transported anywhere, although if you plan on hiking, it may weigh down your backpack a little bit. In most scenarios, however, you should be fine carrying it.

A standout feature of the T7 is its seven RGB light ring, which surrounds the volume knob at the top. With four light movement modes to choose from, the ring can flash with the rhythm and create a mini light show for your party. It can also provide visual feedback alerting you, for instance, that the system is low on battery.

Tronsmart T7 Review Control Strip

The controls are placed on the “back” of the speaker on a rubberized strip that is also used to mask its USB-C charging port and microSD card slot. This relieves your phone of the duty to deliver music. Instead, free up some space on your mobile device and use a microSD card to keep your friends entertained. From the control strip, you can turn your speaker on/off, adjust the volume, skip to a different track, pair your device and switch EQ modes.

The Tronsmart T7 Portable Bluetooth Speaker is built to be used both outdoor and indoor. Its construction feels rugged, and it’s resistant to rain, dust, snow, mud, sand, and spills. Due to its IPX7 rating, it should also survive if submerged in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes. Even if it accidentally rolls into the pool, the T7 should be fine if you retrieve it quickly.

Pairing Your Bluetooth Speaker

Tronsmart’s T7 speaker has Bluetooth 5.3 compatibility, and in my testing was easy to pair with my smartphones as well as my laptop. I live in a medium-sized apartment, and the wireless range (which is said to cover up to 59 feet / 18 m) proved more than sufficient. I never once experienced an interruption or disconnect. Once paired, everything was smooth sailing.

Unfortunately, simultaneously pairing more devices to the Tronsmart T7 Portable Bluetooth Speaker is not an option. If one of your guests wishes to play a song from their phone, you’ll need to unpair the speaker from your phone first to allow them to connect to the T7.

Sound and Performance

I’ve used quite a few Bluetooth speakers so far and can say the Tronsmart T7 impressed me from the start. It can blast really loud music – better than most devices I’ve tested so far. The 30W speaker promises a 360-degree surround sound, something achieved via a stereo arrangement of two tweeters positioned on both sides of the cylinder and a woofer at the bottom. Due to this, if you want to get the best spatiality, you’ll need to position the device with its LED ring facing toward the listener.

Tronsmart T7 Review Subwoofer View

I like to listen to a lot of post-metal, so I tested the Tronsmart T7 on some really heavy bands, such as Cult of Luna and Rosetta, and it didn’t disappoint me. The bass sound was full and impactful. The overall clarity was decent even at an increased volume, although metal music often gets fuzzy when you turn the volume all the way to the max. The Tronsmart T7 didn’t prove to be an exception here.

While playing some electronic music, I used the speaker’s dedicated SP button (located on the strip), which can give you even more punchy bass for added intensity. I also have to note that using the volume wheel at the top is much more fun than tapping some dull buttons. It feels more precise, too, so bonus points for including the knob.

Battery Life and Other Features

Tronsmart promises 12 hours of playback for its T7 Bluetooth speaker. If you want your speaker to last that long, you’ll need to disable the light ring at the top (by pressing the Power button). But if you want a light show, as I do, battery life diminishes considerably. In my testing, the T7 managed to play for seven to eight hours uninterrupted at 50% to 60% volume, which I think is pretty good. It’s definitely not a problem if you’re using the speaker at home, since you can recharge it immediately (can take up to three hours). But if you’re going on an outdoor adventure, you may want to put the light ring to sleep.

The T7 can be paired with a companion app that includes several EQ presets, such as Classic, Deep Bass, Rock, and more. There’s even a Customize option so that you can create your own sound scheme. The app acts as a controller that allows you to connect/disconnect the speaker as well as configure the microSD card. An option for “Stereo Paring Mode” is also available for those who own a second T7 speaker and wish to pair them together to create a stereo setup. Tronsmart promises true wireless pairing stereo sound in this scenario.

Final Considerations

The Bluetooth speaker market is as vast as the ocean – there are countless options to choose from. But if you’re looking for a reliable speaker with nice battery life and great sound, the Tronsmart T7 Portable Bluetooth Speaker might be a great purchase – especially since it has a super affordable price, and once you apply the 20% off Amazon coupon, you will pay just $46.39. It can’t get better than this at this price range.
