Unboxing Experience

The TORRAS COOLIFY ZONE Wearable Waist Fan features a premium unboxing experience that bears more similarities to a flagship smartphone unboxing as opposed to any other consumer fan I have ever unboxed. The rigid box, housing the TORRAS COOLIFY ZONE, features a tasteful gray cover that is smooth to the touch. Glossy product art graces the front of the packaging that features a separate lid and base. It feels like unboxing a product from a well-known fruit company.

Design and Specs: Keep It Cool. Anywhere. Anytime.

The TORRAS COOLIFY ZONE features an ergonomically curved design that wraps snugly around your waist or midsection, depending on your wearing preference. An inward-facing “phase change” pad absorbs a surprising amount of heat, helping you keep cool and comfortable even before you turn on the fans. The pad was hard to the touch when I unboxed the TORRAS COOLIFY ZONE, but it quickly transformed into a cooling gel pad after making contact with my midsection.

The straps are lightweight and adjustable. Speaking of lightweight, the TORRAS COOLIFY ZONE weighs just 0.66 lbs, which makes it easy to bring it along with you during strenuous workouts or other intense indoor/outdoor activities. A three-light LED battery indicator array next to the sealed charging port automatically illuminates when you power on the device, allowing you to quickly confirm the charge level.

The built-in KU 2.0 energy-saving chip ensures strong and continuous airflow with a total of three available speed settings. The dual high-speed fans can reach a maximum of 10,000 RPM at 5.5m/s, offering double the airflow at the same speed compared to other leading brand wearable fans. This is a remarkable achievement made even more innovative by the fact that the device is rated for 15-hour battery life on the eco speed setting, and up to five hours on the max speed setting. Even at max speed, the TORRAS COOLIFY ZONE is as quiet as a mouse, operating at 31 decibels.

Using the included USB-C charging cable and my 20W iPhone power adapter, I was able to charge the TORRAS COOLIFY ZONE from zero to 100% in a little less than 2.5 hours, which falls in line with TORRAS’s claims. Let’s take a closer look at the key specifications:

Running Hot? Run Cool!

As an avid runner residing in an area that frequently receives excessive heat warnings, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to put the TORRAS COOLIFY ZONE to the test. After a few minor strap adjustments, I found a snug (not tight) fit and was hitting the running trails with my TORRAS COOLIFY ZONE. The device felt comfortable, and I was not at all worried that it would fall off.

It’s important to note that the straps included with the device are ultra-lightweight and breathable, but they are fabric, and the fabric absorbs sweat like a sponge, making it a tad difficult to keep the device clean between workouts. Thankfully, removing the strap is easy, and the fabric dries fast, which makes cleaning the strap via a quick rinse a breeze.

Still, with the device being heavily marketed toward outdoor athletes, I would have liked to see TORRAS include or offer separately an athletic strap made from a sweat-resistant elastomer. While the TORRAS COOLIFY ZONE is capable of blowing air from waist to face, I opted to position the device higher up between my pectorals and my abdomen for optimal chest and face cooling, but a standard just-above-the-belly-button placement works effectively as well.

Before I began my outdoor run, I long-pressed the tactile power switch to power on the fans, then clicked the button a couple more times to reach the max airflow setting.

How effective is the TORRAS COOLIFY ZONE? Let’s set the scene! On a scorching hot day when temperatures reached up to 98°F, I ended up running 6 miles when I had only intended to run 3.5 miles. The “Phase Change Material” offered a gel cooling sensation up against my skin, and the high-velocity fans blew against tiny drops of sweat, offering an evaporative cooling sensation.

After my run, I kept the device affixed to my body at max speed. The TORRAS COOLIFY ZONE incredibly surpassed its advertised 5-hour max speed operation time, continuing to run at full speed for a total of 5.5 hours. I can say with full confidence that I pushed harder and ran further because I was wearing the TORRAS COOLIFY ZONE. I’m not sure I will ever want to go on another run in the hot sun without it.

Final Thoughts

Available from Amazing for $129, the TORRAS COOLIFY ZONE Wearable Waist Fan is a product you will not wish to remove once you have tried it for the first time, and one I will be wearing to keep cool all summer long. The TORRAS COOLIFY ZONE over-delivers in nearly every category, featuring far better battery life than advertised, an uncompromisingly comfortable design, effective cooling tech, fast charging, and strap sizing options to fit just about anyone. This product is a game-changer for any lifestyle impacted by excessive heat.
